The How to Write Children's Books Nursery Rhyme
Writing children's books is really quite simple as long as
you think about it like a 2-year-old and not like a person much older than a
2-year-old who knows about the complexities of developing voice and finding an
agent. Kind of like this:
Eleven, Twelve, Reward yourself! (Okay,
that's a near rhyme. No need to call the police. It's totally allowed in
nursery rhymes.)
Yum, nachos. (image by Jean-Philippe Dufour via sxc.hu) |
I love-eleven, twelve, reward yourself :•)
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't have to be just nachos either. Chocolate cake, Diet Mountain Dew, dancing to Footloose - pick the reward of your choosing!
ReplyDeleteHmm...
ReplyDeleteEleven, twelve. Put your published books on the shelve(s).
No, I guess that doesn't work very well but it sure would be a heck of a reward!
Fun, Lauri!
Fifteen, sixteen, being published would be keen!
DeleteNeat - love the slippers! Beats going to work in heels any day.
ReplyDeleteBecause how many writers would there be if you had to write wearing formal attire?
DeleteIt's so easy isn't it. Let's all be kids today hooray! :0) Great post!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me want to jump rope and lick popsicles and hullahoop and run around barefoot even though the grass is covered in cicada carcasses because a 17 year brood just hatched.
DeleteWait. Where's the booze?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love that story in your notebook.
Ninety, Twenty, Drinking plenty!
DeleteIt's a good story, right? And it only took me four minutes to write (but a couple years to research)
I'm taking my time with number eight! Oh, and I am jumping to number twenty!
ReplyDeleteI'm still sipping number 8 this morning. By the way, the toast crust is completely optional.
DeleteThis is fantastic, Lauri!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca! I hope your slippers are as fluffy and comfortable as mine.
Delete21, 22 I'm entertained, by you. :)
ReplyDelete23, 24, write some more!
DeleteYou're easy to entertain, just like me.
Giggling. Too bad there are no numbers to rhyme with "pink fleecy bathrobe" or "stay off Buzzfeed." Just so silly-like a good nursery rhyme should be!
DeleteOkay Denise, I think we skipped 17, 18 in the comments so here's a nod to Buzzfeed:
Delete17, 18, Keep platform lean!
Mmmmmmm. Nachos....
ReplyDeleteWhat? I got distracted there. I love your cute rhymey post. :)
Many good books have been written by writers who go back and forth between the 11, 12, reward yourself (with nachos) and the 19,20, drinking plenty!
DeleteCool post, nice stuff. One of the clearest, simplest, and most useful books for children I have seen.
ReplyDeleteYou are so great Lauri.
